Friends of Hoylake & Meols in Bloom (website) have been selected to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund. With support from the local community they aim to turn a blank perimeter wall in the Parade Gardens (pictured above) into an eye-catching, colourful mural.
Here’s what they say about the project:
West Kirby based artist Jim Fleming will create a mural featuring lots of local aspects These wall mural will complement the sensory garden murals and enhance the experience of Parade Gardens users by portraying local history and promoting the future in a fun, imaginative way.
This new addition will hopefully lead to much more investment in the Parade Gardens, Our aim is to have a totally renovated Parade Gardens with good public sports facilities (including facilities for those with disabilities).
Here’s what the mural could look like:
How the Co-op Community Fund works
Every time Co-op members choose Co-op branded products and services and use their Co-op Membership card (subject to Membership T&Cs) 1% of what you spend will go to your chosen cause and 5% to the card holder.
Members can choose which project they would like to support and can change their choice at any time until the end of this community fund period, which is 18th March 2017.
If members don’t choose a cause during the community fund period then their 1% is shared out equally between all the local causes in their community and the card holder still gets the 5% back. When you are a member you can keep an eye on how much is being raised in your Co-op Membership account or you can visit your local Co-op Food store and check for updates.
There’ll be other local causes to support too including The Parade Community Centre looking to replace their existing lighting with energy efficient LEDs to save on energy bills.
