Sand Removal: Windblown sand on the beach that had banked up against the wall was being moved with a digger today (between Kings Gap and the old lifeboat station). It would appear that the sand was being dumped further out on the beach. This action might temporarily help the windblown sand problem.
Heat Wave: The heat wave broke somewhat today with lower temperatures and spells of rain. If you are aware of any problems caused in Hoylake by the high temperatures this week please leave a comment or let me know.
Heap and Partners: It appears that Heaps have now vacated their premises behind Manor Road train station. I don’t know if they have also vacated their unit on the Carr Lane estate. For more information see this and also this. I believe these buildings were originally used as a laundry.
Wet Paint: Workmen were repainting the footbridge over the railway line at Manor Road station during the week.
Arson Attack: As mentioned in various news sources, the police are questioning an individual over a recent spate of suspected arson attacks on pubs in the region including the Punch Bowl in Market Street.
