The seemingly very popular Sainsburys Local store on Market Street is closing for a revamp.
The store closes at 2pm, Thursday 17th Feb and reopens at 8am on Friday 25th Feb. New self service tills and more shelving space is being installed and some redecoration works are taking place.
I have been informed that the store is being emptied – expect fresh goods and produce to be reduced.
I called in today & noticed it looked a bit empty, especially around the checkout area, so that’s what they are up to. But how can they fit in more shelving, the current shelves are too close together anyway ?
The till that’s own its own and hardly ever used is being taken out and I think the shelves are being extended towards the shop front.
shall be there John on the 25th for some bargains!
shall be there John on the 17th for bargains not 25th!!!
Hi Clare – was just about to correct your deliberate mistake 🙂
I understand it is to reorganise the layout and make the square footage of the shop such that it can open on Sundays from 8am to 10 pm as does the Coop.
It was granted a licence so to do some time ago.
